Specialist or Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist
Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking for a compassionate psychologist (clinical/forensic/counselling) to join us at Ridgeway in our Secure Inpatient Psychology Service. The post would suit an enthusiastic Psychologist, valuing the opportunity to work collaboratively with members of a well-established multi-disciplinary team, where psychology is a core treatment offer. A key part of this role will be using clinical leadership skills to influence teams to embed formulations, psychological understanding and psychosocial interventions in everyday practice.
As a service, we are keen to support and invest in the ongoing development of our Psychologists through CPD opportunities, so an interest in developing clinical skills across a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches is essential. The Psychologist would have the opportunity to gain experience working with a diverse population that includes male and female mental health, learning disability, autism and older adults, including those who may have experienced trauma and/or neurological difficulties. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to specialise in an area of interest.
Main duties of the job
We are the Ridgeway Secure Inpatient Psychology Team for TEWV NHS Trust. From admission to discharge, our talented and compassionate team work in partnership with our patients, communities and partners to help the people within our service feel safe, understood, believed in and cared for.
We're committed to new thinking that improves the wellbeing of our region. We connect with our communities and partners to get mental health care right, in areas that really need it.
The salary is dependent upon experience, the post is currently advertised at a Band 8a, however we are also keen to offer a Band 7-8a preceptorship. A structured job plan will be developed collaboratively to support this.
Job responsibilities
Please find the attached job description and person specification which outlines the main duties and responsibilities of the role. In addition to being part of an MDT, Ridgeway's psychology service offers the opportunity to be part of a psychology team. Consisting of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Trainee Clinical and Forensic Psychologists and Higher Assistant Psychologists, there is significant diversity in approach, however, all within the ethos of a trauma-informed compassion-focused framework. In addition to our clinical work, there are opportunities to engage in research projects and the department has strong links with the Teesside Doctoral training course with regular opportunities to work with core, specialist and research trainees.
Psychologists & Psychological Therapists provide key leadership roles within the Trust. To support this we have developed leadership profiles for each psychology band and the profile card associated with this post is attached on NHS Jobs. You can find more information about the NHS Leadership Academy's Healthcare Leadership Model and the profiles at their website. We encourage you to look at these resources as they will play a part in the interview process.
