Are you passionate about supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL)? GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EAL Teaching Assistant to join our team in Newcastle. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of secondary school students by helping them overcome language barriers and achieve academic success.
The Role
As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing targeted support to students who are learning English as an additional language. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting students in developing their English language skills, both written and spoken.
* Assisting teachers in creating and delivering tailored lesson plans that cater to the needs of EAL students.
* Working one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce learning and boost confidence.
* Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents.
* Creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity.
* Helping to develop resources and materials to support EAL learners.
Requirements
* A genuine passion for education and helping students succeed.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Experience working with EAL students or a background in linguistics, TESOL, or a related field.
* Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
* Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.
* Relevant qualifications or training in EAL support is preferred but not essential.
