Job Profile Summary
The Technology Advisor is responsible for supporting the preparation and execution of the RRUK Technology Plan, ensuring the business meets its objectives against the Technology Roadmap. The individual focuses on business improvement and plays a crucial role in delivering RRUK’s intentions of maximizing value from technological improvements. He/she also monitors and tracks project costs and benefits, demonstrating the value delivered to the business.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Act as the gate keeper for the Technology Plan, effectively prioritizing activities in line with business strategy
• Support the co-ordination of the monthly Technology meetings and ensure that projects are managed effectively through the gated process
• Assist in the development of the RRUK Technology Strategy Roadmap and support the business to progress towards the identified goals
• Build and maintain relationships with the business to promote the Technology Plan and Roadmap and liaise with asset and function teams as required
• Cooperate with the business to ensure technology projects are progressed in a timely manner
• Ensure that all technology projects have a robust business case, providing ad-hoc support to prepare if required
• Identify and gain relevant approvals in line with governance requirements prior to commencement of technology project activity
• Drive the timely progression of technology projects utilizing the continuous improvement methodology, gate processes and monthly meetings with EMT
• Monitor and track costs/benefits of technology projects on a consistent basis as well as relevant parameters
• Demonstrate and communicate the value of completed technology projects at various levels of the business
• Liaise with the Oil and Gas Technology Centre as RRUK representative where necessary
• Firmly understand the threat of Cyber Attacks in IT and OT environments
Professional Skills and Experiences
• Experience of working within an oil and gas sector operator, service company or consultancy
• Strong track record in monitoring projects at an individual and consolidated level
• Knowledge of methodologies around detailed cost and benefit analysis
• Exposure to structured project management processes
• Experience in identifying areas of improvement as well as coordinating and delivering change, taking on additional responsibility when necessary
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and to organize, prioritize and plan to meet tight timelines
• Strong IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office. Primavera and Power BI experience preferred
• Collaborative and inspirational role model, demonstrating personal leadership which supports the business objectives
• Strong influencing skills, with ability to influence at peer and senior management level within the business
Educational Qualification and Certifications
• Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant discipline and/or considerable experience in a similar role/transferrable skill
Other Requirements
• The role may require travelling offshore for certain business requirements
