Student Support Accommodation Officer
This is an important role within the University’s Student Accommodation Service, responsible for identifying and coordinating property improvement for the University’s student accommodation and performing a range of health and safety related tasks. Working closely with the Halls Mangers and the wider service colleagues, the role will actively contribute to the maintenance of a safe and attractive living environment for our students and guests.
You'll be instrumental in ensuring our students have a safe, supportive, and enjoyable living experience in our on-campus and partner accommodations, which provide study bed spaces on and off campus to over 2,000 students. The service also provides expert advice and support for students who choose to access the private rented housing market.
You’ll lead the way by:
Conducting regular health and safety inspections across our accommodation portfolio and coordinating any necessary improvements.
Overseeing the development and implementation of safety management plans to maintain a secure living environment.
Supporting the upkeep of student accommodations, working closely with Halls Managers, Estates, and contractors.
Participating in on-call duties to address urgent issues outside regular hours.
What You'll Bring:
Accredited health and safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely).
Experience in health and safety compliance, particularly in housing or student accommodation.
Ability to work independently and respond effectively to emergencies.
Strong communication skills and computer literacy.
Additionally, you'll:
Assist with training sessions for staff and student wardens.
Provide initial first aid response as needed.
Contribute to induction talks for new students, enhancing their living experience.
Monitor and report on contractor performance to ensure service quality.
