About the Role: As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the school day by supervising students aged 11-16 in the absence of their regular teacher. You will be responsible for maintaining a positive and productive learning environment, delivering pre-prepared lessons, and managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies. Key Responsibilities: Supervising students undertaking pre-set learning activities across a range of subjects. Managing classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a calm and focused atmosphere. Following school policies and procedures, particularly regarding behaviour management and safeguarding. Responding to student questions and providing guidance as needed. Reporting any issues or concerns to the relevant teaching staff. Ensuring the safety and well-being of all students in your care. Encouraging student engagement and participation in learning activities. Collecting completed work and ensuring the classroom is left tidy. Potentially supervising students during break times and lunchtimes. What We Are Looking For: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong classroom management abilities and the confidence to lead a group of students. The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. A proactive and adaptable approach to work. The ability to follow instructions and work independently. A genuine interest in working with young people and supporting their learning. Good literacy and numeracy skills. Educated to at least GCSE level (including Maths and English). A-Levels or a degree are advantageous. Previous experience working with children or in a school environment is desirable but not essential. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
