Job Description
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with a range of special educational needs. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting lesson materials to meet the needs of students.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging positive social interactions and addressing any behavioural challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
- Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Support students with personal care needs, if required, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A commitment to promoting an inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, are preferred but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is required.
