We provide bed and breakfast accommodation to families and individuals, who stay with us in private rooms, bell tents and camping pitches. On occasion we also host catered group stays. We are looking for a proactive, reliable and friendly team-player to prepare cooked breakfasts and help keep the hostel clean and tidy, 3 days per week. What will you be doing as a Hospitality Team Member? We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including: Ensuring adherence to food hygiene standards in food storage, preparation, and delivery. Upholding health and safety regulations, ensuring timely and accurate completion of kitchen checks. Taking pride in the preparation, presentation, and service of high-quality food. Recording food wastage in accordance with your hostel's procedures, focusing on minimizing waste to maximize profit. Providing great customer service to all our customers, members and guests. Preparing and serving food and drinks with genuine warmth, hospitality, and pride that will influence more sales Using our systems for efficient guest check-ins and check-outs, food and beverage sales and service. Carrying out housekeeping duties, ensuring a comfortable, clean environment for all visitors What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Hospitality Team Member? Our Hospitality Team Members undertake a wide range of customer facing duties within the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors. To provide this service to our guests we are looking for the following qualities in our Hospitality Team Members: Experience of working face to face with customers Experience of working in a team – can help others to achieve a common goal Confidence to work under your own initiative with minimal supervision Excellent timekeeping, with flexibility to cover different shifts – punctual, can work to deadlines Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands – can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA – what YHA does and how we do it Experience of working in hospitality, catering or customer service Food Safety Level 2 Certificate (desirable) – otherwise will be required to complete within hostel Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) – able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, browse the internet and use apps Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA – what YHA does and how we do it Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks such as bed-making, vacuuming and operating catering equipment Able to get to work for an early start. Please note there are no public buses to Beer at the times required for this role, so you will need your own transport to get to work.
