Key Responsibilities To ensure all Trauma patients are appropriately assessed, investigations orderedand treatment commenced in line with protocols, policies and procedures. Take a lead role in the daily major trauma ward round and completion of tertiarysurveys in order to ensure the proactive management of trauma patients across thewhole pathway. Liaise with regional trauma units to ensure effective patient flow, taking an active rolein facilitating the reverse transfer process. Act as senior nurse for the trauma team calls when on duty. To provide clinical expertise and specialist advice within this area of practice, as partof a multi-disciplinary team. To provide high quality clinical care and assist in the clinical development of thetrauma service by ensuring the use of evidence based practice and clinical standardswithin the speciality. To alert senior clinical and operational management staff regarding any operationalissues relating to access/capacity in a timely manner, to allow any further action to betaken. To ensure good communications with patients/clients and relatives/carers to enableindividual needs to be met, and address any issues identified.To develop auditable standards of care producing and presenting reports asrequired. To attend and participate in key major trauma meetings. To take responsibility for data collection as required supporting the monitoring anddevelopment of the major trauma system. Work collaboratively with and support staff in the Emergency Department, CriticalCare and the Major Trauma Ward. To support the co-ordination of rehabilitation pathway with the therapy teams fortrauma patients. Work closely with TARN Co-ordinators to ensure trauma key performance indicatorsand BPT measures are met across sites. Represent the MTCC major trauma centre at external events both regionally andnationally.
