Description Costain under several Frameworks support TfL in their expansion and sustainability and are one of their major providers. We are currently undertaking several feasibility and concept designs to support future developments. We have recently been awarded A40 Westway, Gallows Corner, Brent Cross Structures Program and are recruiting for staff. Working with your delivery team and reporting to the Costain Contract Lead you will take on all delivery operations, working very closely with the Works Superintendent to ensure all works are delivered; safely, to program and within budget and give confidence to the management team and Client that the work is of a high quality, recorded and to the satisfaction of the clients representatives. You will make yourself available at all working periods, which may include night working, weekend working and normal business hours. An uplift system is in place to cover this inconvenience. A rota system will be derived by yourself and monitored by yourself to ensure fatigue control and staff’s hours are maintained within our she requirements. Reporting to the Contract lead and deputizing when not available, the Construction manager is a key role in the delivery team and a role paramount to our program. The role is a permanent role expanding into various TfL accounts and project cycle. LI-JK1 Responsibilities Responsibilities will include: Ensuring the prompt and safe delivery of all works being of permanent or temporary nature. Liaise with client reviewing project schedules and derived outputs. Be deputy to the Contract Leader and take client meetings and produce minutes. Control and manage the Construction delivery engineering team ensuring package managers are assigned and all works are being planned and delivered. Producing performance data metrics and dashboards, with both leading and lagging indicators, Building constructive relationships with all delivery teams and Account construction managers developing trust and cooperation in producing the ultimate working relationship, through all disciplines. Working with the design and construction teams to ensure that modern methods of construction are identified and embedded in our Designs. The development and management of robust working practices to support the design and teams to deliver a safe, efficient and production focused delivery. Review of application for payment assessments and supporting the package QS and commercial manager to review. Produce, review and approval of requisitions within area of responsibility. Ensure quality assurance is being maintained in a right first-time approach Support the Contract Leader in delivery requests from the Client. Form good and collaborative relationships with the Client, designers (permanent and temporary) and supply chain to support the delivery of the project. Produce a working rota for weekend and out of hours shifts, oncall provision by the Construction Manager will also be required on a rota basis. Qualifications Civil Engineering related qualification (HNC, HND, BSc MSc, BEng, MEng). Extensive experience delivering infrastructure projects including: Knowledge and experience of Highways Construction. Knowledge and experience of highway structure repair and refurbishment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to manage and control tasks Experience in some or all of the following: Complex Traffic Management Working within logistically constrained areas – urban environments. Knowledge and understanding of temporary works. Knowledge and understanding of a good range of highways structures disciplines. A presentable manner and cooperative, collaborative attitude to working with other disciplines.
