We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical or Mechanical Technician for the Guildford & Southwest Surrey area. This role presents an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and sociable team of professionals committed to delivering the production of millions of litres of water for customers across Southwest Surrey each day.
The successful candidate will be a key member of a team of M&E Technicians and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure water production sites. The successful candidate will learn how to operate and optimise all processes and equipment in water treatment works to ensure water quality, compliance, safety, and operational efficiency.
You will be a key member of the area operations team and will deliver a high standard of Electrical or Mechanical work, and maintenance at over 40 sites. Training around water quality and on how to restart and operate our works will be provided. There may be a requirement to support our Process Technicians team by restarting sites.
Base Location: Shalford - Guildford - GU4 8BW.
38 hours per week Monday-Friday. 07:30 - 15:36 plus the onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment. All PPE, Tools plus vans will be supplied.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical or Mechanical Technician
1. Completion of day-to-day electrical tasks, from rewiring lighting systems to refurbishment of pumps and valves.
2. Responding to reactive work to maintain our operational output and the supply of clean water to our customers within the Guildford and Southwest Surrey area.
3. Fault finding and subsequent identification and delivery of suitable solutions.
4. Identification and escalation of requirements for new or replacement parts.
5. Supporting internal and external stakeholders with large-scale planned work at our sites.
6. Maintain asset availability and ensure our site performance is maintained.
7. Promote a safe working environment through your actions and behaviours.
8. Out of Hours stand-by work on a rotational basis.
What you should bring to the role
1. Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, with an 18th Edition qualification is essential.
2. NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering or a related/equivalent mechanical qualification would be desirable.
3. Physically fit as you may have to work in confined spaces on successful completion of the appropriate training.
4. Qualified and competent to complete work and comply with the current standards and regulations.
5. Health and safety knowledge.
6. Technical knowledge and know-how to identify faults and solutions.
7. Ability to see work through to completion is a prerequisite.
8. Technical experience from an industrial maintenance background.
9. The ability to demonstrate logical thinking, attention to detail, and workload management is a must.
10. The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
11. Ability to make decisions about our sites, sometimes under pressure.
12. Full UK Valid driving licence.
13. Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships quickly.
14. Competent with IT systems.
