Our Andover based Commercial Vehicle Repair unit is currently recruiting for an Apprentice to join our Commercial Body Builder team.
Apprentice Commercial Vehicle Body Builder
Whilst learning on the job, you will develop the skills needed to become responsible for the removal, repairing, re-assembling and customizing the bodies of commercial vehicles such as HGV trailers, buses & coaches and other heavy vehicles.
The successful candidate will possess a keen interest in the Heavy Vehicle side of the Automotive industry and will develop excellent technical capability, independence and values from an experienced team of high performing professionals, able to deliver quality bodywork solutions for our valued Commercial Clients who are both local and National in their reach.
This role will lead to a formal industry qualification gained with an approved local training provider (college or inhouse course depending).
Responsibilities
* Learning the principles of Vehicle Body construction - Fabrication, assembly and modification of heavy vehicles bodywork, requiring repairs or replacements.
* Customization where required, learning how to modify and build bespoke solutions per customer requirements or manufacturer specification.
* Guided installation of components, ensuring quality fit and finish of work.
* Quality checking – ensure all quality controls are met, and thorough checks are carried out before any work is signed off.
* Collaboration – a strong team player, working closely with other team members to ensure works carried out conform with H&S requirements as well as customer requests.
* Safety & compliance – Adhering to all depot H&S protocols, regular team meetings & performance checks.
* Work within agreed scales of time and cost – collaborating with wider team members on parts and work scheduling to ensure streamlined processes and cost controls.
* Commitment to work towards a recognised industry qualification – usually 3 years in duration.
Requirements
* GCSE / Equivalent secondary school; certificate with minimum Level 3 Maths & English.
* A natural interest in the Automotive industry.
* Commitment to vocational learning and completing the requirements of the course & qualification.
* Willing to follow instruction.
* Self-motivated and eager to make a long term career commitment.
