An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward-thinking, highly motivated nurse to apply for a post of Sister/Charge Nurse within the Integrated Geriatric and Stroke Medicine Directorate, specialising in the care of elderly patients on ward Brearley 6.
We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic clinical leader with a proven track record of strong leadership, innovative practice, highly developed organizational ability, and excellent interpersonal skills to help lead our teams to deliver the highest standard of quality care to our patients.
The successful candidate will be honest, reliable, highly motivated, and passionate about the delivery of excellence to service users. Driven to make a difference, you will have a proven ability to manage change and demonstrate the drive and passion required to motivate and engage staff. Working collaboratively with the MDT, the successful candidate will be expected to lead and support change across the care of elderly services.
Applicants must have a first-level registration along with an advanced diploma in nursing studies.
Main duties of the job
This role is to develop and provide specialised programmes of nursing care to a diverse range of patients and support to carers within the unit, to lead a team of qualified, support and student team members, to take charge of the ward regularly, and to support the Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse in ensuring the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered.

Qualifications
* Current NMC registration
* To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
* 1st Level Degree or equivalent or evidence of study at that level or demonstrable extensive experience
Experience
* Relevant experience working in an acute/rehabilitation setting
* Experience of teaching/assessing and supervision of others in a clinical setting
* Able to demonstrate implementation of change in practice
* Evidence of high-level commitment to professional development
* Ability to work autonomously
* Experience of patient flow and coordinating the busy inpatient areas/wards
* Commitment to work within the Clinical Governance Framework
* Proven experience of managing a ward; including management of rotas, team competencies, resources, and staff
* Knowledge of relevant Policies and Procedure at STHFT
* Organisational Mandatory Training Policy and Strategy
* Knowledge of the Stroke Pathway
* Current experience working in stroke service
* Evidence of research applied to nursing practice
