AMHP, Trafford
Pay rate: £40 per hour
Role Purpose:
The Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Hub service is part of Trafford Council’s Adults Wellbeing Directorate and sits within Trafford’s local Community Mental Health Services. The purpose of the AMHP Hub service is to ensure that all requests for assessments for possible compulsory admission to hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983 are fully considered in accordance with the Council’s statutory duties under this Act.
Your Main Priorities:
1. Delivering a professional AMHP Service.
2. Working as a team in considering all requests for assessments under Section 13 of the Mental Health Act 1983/2007 in accordance with Trafford Council’s statutory duties.
3. Carrying out Mental Health Act assessments, both in hospital and in the community, in accordance with the key Guiding Principles of the Mental Health Act Code of Practice 2015.
Trafford Council requires AMHPs to cover both ad hoc shifts and a full-time 3/4-month assignment. Ideally looking for 3 workers that can do ad hoc shifts and one person to cover full time Monday to Friday on a 3-to-4-month assignment.
You will be a fully qualified AMHP with one year’s experience. Hours are Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. Some flexibility will be required at times around finish time if you must complete an assessment. You will carry out adult mental health assessment work. The hub is based at Sale Waterside, and you will generally be in the office for case discussions - but there is some flexibility if you have assessments to write up (these can be done at home). You will be carrying out assessments in hospitals and homes - so you will need to be a driver and have access to a car to travel to visits and carry out assessments.
