An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dedicated nurse to undertake a permanent post as a senior staff nurse within a busy Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit.
• If successful the candidate will provide professional team leadership and support to all members of the nursing team in collaboration with the MDT.
• Applicants will need to demonstrate their competency and experience in line with the person specification and will be required to work flexibly across a seven day rota.
The post holder will lead a team of registered nurses and healthcare support workers in the delivery of mental health care in Avenham Ward, Chorley Hospital. This is a busy and challenging six-bedded female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Patients typically display significant symptoms of mental ill-health that necessitates an admission to such environment. The appointed candidate will promote the interests of patients and ensure that delegated nursing care is effectively implemented in a safe manner.
The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using professional skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across professional boundaries and in unfamiliar situations.
The post holder will use research, audit, enquiry and scholarship to plan, implement and evaluate concepts and strategies leading to improvements in care.

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
