Job summary
We are looking to recruit a motivated individual to the position of Mechanical and Electrical Manager for our Estates Department.
You will support the Operational Manager, in close cooperation with other Senior Estates Engineering staff, with the responsibility for successful ongoing operation and maintenance of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust premises and assets with a special emphasis on liaising with the Trust Projects teams and ensuring statutory compliance and a suitable environment for patient care is available at all times.
You will be expected to ensure that the Trust's premises and assets are installed, operated and maintained in accordance with the Trust's policies, DoH guidance (HTM/HBN) and industry best practice.
You will be the specialist in your field and have the responsibility in the absence of the Operational Manger to make appropriate decisions to ensure the successful delivery of maintenance of the infrastructure required for patient support.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for ensuring the assets are maintained in accordance with statutory and mandatory requirements and shall work with the Maintenance Team and contractors at all premises operated and maintained by the Trust to provide a quality service that is responsive to service and clinical needs and provided efficiently and effectively to the highest possible standards. You will ensure that external Consultants and contractors working in conjunction with you are fully aware of the policies, procedures and standards of the Trust's Estates and Facilities Department.
Provide detailed professional technical advice to staff and contractors on issues that are complex and non-routine relating to the infrastructure and associated plant and equipment.
Monitor the performance of plant and equipment against commissioning data and operations manuals to ensure that it operates in accordance with the HTM's. This will include re-commissioning control panels in accordance with HTM's and operations manuals as part of validation and verification checks to ensure compliance with HTM and relevant industry guidance as well as act as for Water and Ventilation

8. Educated to or working towards degree level in mechanical engineering or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

12. Engineering experience in an operational NHS and/or healthcare estates maintenance environment with portfolio to demonstrate proven track record and wide range of expertise, including the efficient management of maintenance staff and activities
13. Experience of contract and subcontract management with a number of external organisations
