Salary: Band: 5, £25,652 - £27,363 pa, pro rata (£15,599 - £16,639 for 22.5 hours) plus a 7.5% shift allowance.
An average of 22.5 hours per week. Hours will be worked over 2 week rota which may include weekends and bank holidays.

Your new role
As Cook you will be planning and producing a varied and exciting menu which is nutritionally based, including special dietary requirement, whilst managing a set budget. You will be responsible for preparing food on a daily basis with the help of a kitchen assistant and the overall Health and Safety in the kitchen including induction of any new staff. Following the stock ordering process, you will liaise with various suppliers and check with the delivery of supplies whilst arranging appropriate storage. You will report any concerns to the senior team whilst ensuring all kitchen records are kept up to date, and policies and procedures are being followed. In addition, you will be required to organise catering for special events.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will need an advanced qualification in catering, for example, City and Guilds 701/702 and a basic food hygiene certificate (or be working towards a suitable qualification). You will have experience of ordering stock and the ability to keep within a set budget whilst cooking for a large number of people. You will be required to have a good knowledge of food and nutrition requirements for our specific service, including a good range of special dietary requirements. You will have a knowledge and understanding of food safety including IDDSI and food intolerances or allergies. (IDDSI training will be provided). With good interpersonal and communication skills you will be flexible to enable you to adapt to changing workloads and requirements of the unit, an ability to organise and lead kitchen staff and an understanding of the policy regarding safeguarding vulnerable people.
