Job Description:
JOB REF: JM0924
I am looking to recruit 2 part-time Personal/Home Care Assistants to join my daughter’s (J) support team.
You should have experience of supporting someone with complex health, physical, and learning difficulties.
Care will be in our home, working alongside our full-time carer, but at times you will also be working on your own. We are a very busy household comprising of Mum, brother, brother's girlfriend, and J, along with a dog, cat, and tortoise.
J needs full support in all aspects of daily living, including continence care and personal care (showering, hair washing, teeth brushing). She is tube-fed and a wheelchair user, and she has a hoist to move her from bed to chair to wheelchair.
J also has uncontrolled epilepsy and can have days where her seizures severely impact her.
Good spoken English is desirable as J has communication difficulties.
It’s important that J is involved in activities she enjoys, such as going to garden centres, SPACE, seaside, and pamper days. J has a membership for National Trust and a pass to Sea Life centres, so an interest in these activities would be an advantage.
I am looking for someone who will think outside the box and encourage J to be actively involved in activities.
You will receive:
1. £12.00 per hour
2. A pension if eligible
3. 5.6 weeks annual leave per year pro rata
4. Full certificated training on all aspects of the role
Hours available:
1. There are 2 part-time posts available:
2. Post 1: Working 2 weekends a month (Saturday and Sunday providing 2:1 care) 9am to 9pm, and Tuesdays 12 midday to 9pm (providing 2:1 care until 6pm and 1:1 until 9pm). Total of 57 hours per month.
3. Post 2: Working 2 weekends a month (Saturday and Sunday providing 2:1 care) 9am to 9pm, Thursdays 5pm to 9pm (providing 1:1 care), and 2 Sundays a month 12 midday to 4pm (these Sundays are alternate to the full days). Total of 56 hours per month.
4. There is the opportunity to work additional hours on occasions in relation to holidays and sickness.
What’s Required:
1. Provide assistance with all aspects of personal care, bathing, washing hair, dressing, feeding, and changing.
2. A full driving licence and a willingness to drive her van (fully insured) must be over 25 for insurance purposes.
3. Flexibility and reliability in working hours is essential.
4. Weekend work is essential.
5. An enhanced DBS check, the cost will be met by the Employer.
6. Able to accompany J to swimming including being in the pool with her.
7. Able to push a wheelchair.
