Band 7
Job Overview
An opportunity for a qualified advanced practitioner in breast imaging has arisen. Training will be given for an exceptional Mammographer to pursue training in a module of advanced practice (this will be paid at B6 until training is successfully completed). A second module of advanced practice is a requirement of the role - training and support will be provided.
The service offers excellent support for training in advanced practice with a mentor provided and a strong history of developing and training staff.
Currently, the priority of the service would be to train in ultrasound of the breast and axilla or X-ray guided breast interventions.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder would be responsible for pro-actively managing their own training and performance against national standards utilising national and self-audit records.
Once qualified, the post holder would work autonomously under the indirect supervision of a responsible assessor both in screening and symptomatic services, managing their own clinic flow and leading the mammographers and support staff during the clinic.
The post holder will be responsible for providing a safe and effective service, ultimately ensuring that the outcomes for the patient are clearly and concisely reported and escalated.
An in-depth knowledge of breast pathways is essential and a good understanding of the responsibility of the role in cancer diagnosis and working with well women.
Experience of working as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team is essential.
