Astute's Power team is working with an international Power Generator with assets in the UK and Europe. One of their assets, a large Biomass plant in the North East of England, is now recruiting for a Boiler & Auxiliaries Engineer to work within their Maintenance department.
This is a critical role, supporting and assisting the Maintenance Manager to ensure the maintenance strategy is employed to continuously improve the performance of the power station.

Responsibilities and duties:
As the Boiler & Auxiliaries Engineer, you will be responsible for:
1. Oversee both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and outages.
2. Coordinate and manage boiler tube leak repairs.
3. Lead the pressure parts and general maintenance team.
4. Handle maintenance tasks related to rotating equipment.
5. Plan and schedule maintenance activities using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (IFS).
6. Support the Asset Integrity Management System (AIMS) and inspection programs.
7. Conduct mechanical project work within the boiler and other areas.
8. Analyse breakdowns to enhance plant flexibility, efficiency, and reliability.
9. Other tasks as directed.
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
1. Ideally a Degree but would consider ONC / HNC / HND in a Mechanical engineering field.
2. IOSH or NEBOSH or similar in Health & Safety.
Personal skills:
The Boiler & Auxiliaries Engineer would suit someone with:
1. At least five years operations experience in the power generation or waste/recycling industry. This can include CCGT, coal, CHP, energy from waste or biomass.
2. Significant knowledge of Boiler / Steam Plant maintenance gained in the power generation sector. Experience in other heavy industry will be considered e.g. chemical, pharmaceutical, steel works, paper mill etc.
3. Working knowledge of pipework systems, vessels & design codes such as BS EN 12952 / 1113 / 2791 and NDT methodologies.
4. Familiar with regulatory compliance such as PSSR.
5. Excellent IT skills and the ability to use a CMMS.
6. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
7. Proactive attitude towards health & safety.
