Contract Type: Permanent – Band 1
Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
Overview of project/role
Working within London Transport Museum’s Development team you will support the development and delivery of the Museum’s successful corporate fundraising and partnerships programme in order to achieve fundraising targets.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with initiative and flair to make a real impact within our ambitious team. The post holder is responsible for new business and partner stewardship and supports the delivery of industry events including the hugely successful annual fundraising dinner and auction, raising vital income that enables the Museum to deliver education and heritage programmes.
Reporting to the Senior Corporate Development Manager, the post holder will have excellent account management, new business sales and communication skills to proactively steward existing relationships with our broad portfolio of corporate supporters that help sustain the Museum, whilst identifying opportunities to develop new industry partnerships.
Key Accountabilities
* Work closely with the Development team and build excellent relationships with colleagues from across the Museum, contributing to the development and implementation of the Development strategy to achieve agreed income targets.
* Act as a key point of contact for the Museum’s corporate partners, proactively developing and maintaining relationships with existing supporters and potential partners, delivering against contractual obligations.
* Research, build and maintain a pipeline of corporate prospects that align with the values of the Museum for a range of sponsorship and partnership opportunities. Arrange meetings to understand prospect and partner motivations for supporting the Museum and develop compelling proposals and presentations. Identify fundraising opportunities for corporate supporters across the Museum and support the Senior Corporate Development Manager in making new approaches.
* Undertake appropriate due diligence screening of potential corporate partners on behalf of the team, in line with the Museum’s ethical fundraising policy.
* Support the development and delivery of our established corporate events programme, including the annual fundraising dinner and auction. Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to sell tables and sponsorship packages for the dinner and auction and secure auction items, ensuring income targets are met. Build and manage targeted guest lists, manage event logistics and any other event administration as required to support the corporate events programme.
* Support the development and production of a range of collateral as required to deliver the Development strategy, producing persuasive and engaging copy which communicates with a range of audiences, including production of a regular stakeholder e-newsletter.
* Effectively maintain the departmental database, updating records, cleaning data, managing mail merges, events lists and the electronic and photographic filing systems.
* Regularly review and update the content of the Museum’s website and digital supporters screen to ensure messaging is consistent with brand and strategic objectives.
* Provide administrative support across the Museum’s corporate partnerships including taking and circulating meeting minutes, maintaining financial records, collating and maintaining information to support the evaluation and analysis of funding partnerships and responding to internal and external enquiries and requests for information.
* Promote the Museum’s reputation as an excellent organisation to be associated with and support, building mutually beneficial relationships which serve the Museum in the long-term.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge
* Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
* Working knowledge of fundraising strategy, practice and legislation.
* Knowledge of the opportunities available for arts and culture fundraisers, and an understanding of where London Transport Museum can find its niche within a competitive market.
* Interest and knowledge of the transport, museums and heritage sectors and the issues affecting it.
* Good database management skills and working knowledge of at least one relevant database package.
* An understanding of how to research and approach potential prospects and manage a pipeline with previous experience of developing funding proposals and making prospect approaches.
* An understanding of the design, print and production process.
* Understanding of the requirements of delivering a successful fundraising event.
Skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication and networking skills, able to present in a range of situations, including formal presentations, one-to-one meetings with high profile sponsors and stakeholders, in written proposals and promotional copy writing.
* Excellent relationship and account management skills, with experience of building and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels.
* A driven approach to meeting targets, while diplomatic and sensitive to the balance between a range of organisational objectives and priorities.
* Excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills, with previous experience of providing cross-team support.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, prioritise and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
* Excellent attention to detail, record keeping and editing and proofreading skills.
* Enthusiastic, confident, and self-motivated.
* A flexible and agile approach, able to adapt to a range of social and work situations and shifting priorities.
* A team player, committed to working with the team and colleagues from across the Museum to meet income targets, whilst also able to work under own initiative.
* Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as the programme requires to support the delivery of events and networking opportunities.
Experience
* Strong and proven experience of working in a fundraising, sales or stakeholder management role.
* Experience of managing relationships with stakeholders and account management at a senior level.
* Experience of event management and project delivery in a similar environment.
* Previous experience of working in a fundraising team and experience of contributing to the development and implementation of fundraising strategy.
