Kettlethorpe High School is the last local authority-maintained high school in Wakefield.
We’re also the first when it comes to innovation, as we want to deliver a 21st century education where imaginative teaching creates synergy alongside cutting-edge technology. That is why we are putting a brand-new team together under an ambitious, visionary new Headteacher. It is also why we want you to be our Inclusion Manager.
You will forge new dynamic systems and procedures and build warm and trusting relationships with students. We are looking for you to innovate and build the strategic direction of pastoral support in school. You will be joining us at an exciting time when the pastoral and SEND team are being re-invigorated.
We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable practitioner with experience in the field of school inclusion to join our team supporting children and young people to engage in learning.
You will line manage a team working alongside other professionals, and a resource base to identify pupils requiring support, focussing on the root causes of non-attendance and barriers to learning, allowing early intervention through an agreed range of strategic support, which will be planned and delivered as part of a whole school focus to secure the best possible outcomes for every child. Where necessary, you will oversee the use of legal powers and interventions. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with schools and partner agencies including mental health and school nursing.
You will need to be a proven and effective case worker in your own right as you will also be responsible for a caseload of more complex cases. You will need to be passionate about supporting children and families to engage in learning and will need to have some experience of managing a team.
Hours: 37 hours per week, term-time only, plus inset days.
In return, we can offer supportive and structured line management with reflective supervision, a team of like-minded individuals focused on making a real difference with opportunities for structured and tailored training and continuous professional development.
Closing date: Noon on Friday 10 January 2025.
