Role and Responsibilities
As SENCO, you will lead and manage the school’s SEN provision, playing a vital role in supporting the progress and well-being of students with SEMH needs. Your role will include:
* Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and targeted support for students with additional needs.
* Collaborating with teachers, teaching assistants, and external professionals to ensure quality provision and support.
* Ensuring compliance with SEN policies and the SEND Code of Practice, including appropriate documentation and assessments.
* Leading staff training and development to promote inclusive, effective teaching strategies.
* Building positive relationships with parents and caregivers to support student progress both in and out of school.
Essential Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO).
* Extensive experience working with children with SEN, ideally within SEMH or special school settings.
* In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
* Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multi-disciplinary teams.
* A genuine commitment to fostering inclusive, student-centered education.
