About the Team:
Senior Youth Justice Practitioner
Warwickshire Youth Justice Service are looking for a Full time Senior Youth Justice Practitioner-Education Lead. This is a grade I position with scale range £32,654-£35,235. The post is based in the Nuneaton Justice Centre.
You will work as part of a multi-agency service, to prevent and reduce offending by children and young people by providing services as required by the Crime and Disorder Act. This post will also involve work with parents/carers. Warwickshire Youth Justice service has high aspirations for children and young people who have experienced the criminal justice system and believe all children can succeed given the right opportunities at the right time and well thought out support.

About the Role:
We are recruiting for the role of Youth Justice Practitioner in our Youth Justice team based in Nuneaton for a permanent role.
Warwickshire Youth Justice Service is guided by the Youth Justice Board overriding principle of ‘child first”. In practice this means we;

* Build on children’s individual strengths and capabilities as a means of developing a pro-social identity for sustainable desistance from crime. This leads to safer communities and fewer victims. All work is constructive and future-focused, built on supportive relationships that empower children to fulfil their potential and make positive contributions to society.
* Encourage children’s active participation, engagement, and wider social inclusion. All work is a meaningful collaboration with children and their carers.
* Promote a childhood removed from the justice system, using prevention, diversion, and minimal intervention. All work minimises criminogenic stigma from contact with the system.
Key Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and skills gained from working with young people who have had contact with the criminal justice system. You will work with children and their families to ensure they are able to reach their full potential whilst enabling them to desist from crime. You will represent YJS and the children open to our service within multi agency meetings and discussion forums to ensure their needs are appropriately supported. You will join a service that has recently obtained the SEND and Child First quality mark and a wider children and families service who are a pathfinder for the families first government’s children’s social care implementation strategy.
