We are excited to offer this unique new band 6 role within our paediatric service to support with the care and management of children within our service presenting with mental health needs. You will work alongside our teams playing a crucial role in coordinating the appropriate care for these children and young people. This role is cross bay, supporting young people at Furness General Hospital and Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
* To be a professional role model, leading and co-ordinating the management of children and young people (CYP) with mental health needs.
* To liaise with the ward team to support training and education.
* To provide advice and support to paediatric nurses and other MDT members on the management of children with mental health problems/ disabilities and long-term health problems on the wards.
* To identify children with combined paediatric and psychiatric illnesses and ensure that they receive appropriate treatment.
* At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* Registered Children's Nurse/MH nurse
* Post basic qualification relevant to children's/MH nursing
* Teaching and assessing qualification
* 1st degree or willingness to undertake same
Experience
* Recent experience at senior staff nurse level within children's nursing/MH nursing
* Evidence of clinical competence in a wide range of paediatric/MH nursing skills
* Understanding of the setting and monitoring of standards
* Evidence of teaching and developing staff.
* Recent leadership development or willingness to undertake course
Skills
* IT skills including word processing, email and internet

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year per annum pro rata
