The TCF team works closely with commercial stakeholders, specialist legal teams and Structured Credit, to deliver world class commodity lending and structured finance solutions, monitoring and reporting for Trading and Supply (T&S). This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with Business Developers through the provision of world class financial structuring solutions that supports delivery of commodity trading margin. This role sits within the Commodity Trade Financing (TCF) team, which is the “centre of excellence” and expertise for all structured finance in T&S. The TCF Manager reports into the Head of Trading Commodity Financing and works with a team of TCF Advisors and Technical experts based in London, Netherlands, Houston and Singapore. ACCOUNTABILITIES: The role entails opportunity identification, development of appropriate structures, significant interaction with external stakeholders, identification and mitigation of risk, economic evaluation and coordination with specialist functions such as Credit, Legal, Tax, Technical Accounting, Market Risk etc. The individual will play a key role in the development of the TCF team, ensuring it provides world class business decision support on all long-term financing transactions. This will include: developing optimum deal structures, supporting and at times leading negotiations with counterparties, banks and other external entities involved in a transaction, carrying out detailed model reviews; challenging the strategic deal rationale and managing the governance and approval process, ensuring all appropriate supports are received and fostering a continuous learning culture. The incumbent of this role acts as a coach to more junior TCF team members and plays a vital role in their development and training to ensure individuals are optimally prepared to deliver in their current role, build skills and experience according to their development needs to meet their career aspirations as well ensuring that the team’s skill and knowledge levels remain current with developments in the external environment. INTERFACES: The key interfaces for the TCF Finance Manager will be: Working with Traders and Business Development teams to support the origination and structuring of trading deals that entail financing Working with key internal stakeholders such as functional experts and senior T&S leadership Working with external stakeholders such as counterparties and any other entities involved (e.g. banks, PE funds, legal firms, insurance companies and brokers) in a transaction and to remain current with developments in the structured commodity finance market What we need from you The role must effectively challenge and influence commercial transactions, whilst remaining bottom line focused and a partner to the business. It is crucial to understand and effectively articulate the underlying business factors driving the financial results; exercise commercial judgment; understand and assess risks and exposures. Some travel may be required, and an ability to quickly develop relationships in a variety of regions with differing stakeholders is crucial.
