Balco Ltd, a leading provider of innovative balcony systems across Europe, is now looking for an experienced and driven Commercial Manager to support our growth in the UK market. In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of commercial tasks, ensuring that our projects are delivered with the highest quality and profitability, from sales support to project completion. The position is based at our office in Taunton, but Manchester could also be an alternative location.
Your Role as Commercial Manager
As a Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in our team, handling a range of commercial tasks from sales support to project delivery. This position is based in Taunton, but Manchester is also a potential location.
Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with our sales team to review client creditworthiness using tools like CreditSafe and social media. You will review tender documents to ensure all relevant details are included in quotes and contracts, and you will standardize sales quotes to maintain consistency and accuracy across all projects.
Additionally, you will be responsible for calculating net costs for materials, labour, freight, and installation of our balcony and balustrade systems, while collaborating with our pricing teams at other European offices to deliver accurate and competitive quotes. You will also manage value engineering requests and repricing during the tender phase to meet customer requirements and project needs.
During the pre-construction phase, you will ensure that all design work is completed and, where possible, integrated into contracts. You will prepare cost analyses and cash flow forecasts to support smooth commercial delivery and negotiate contract clarifications and updates with clients to ensure mutual understanding.
You will also play a key role in supporting operational activities by overseeing and updating project cost reports and tracking cost allocations. By providing commercial insight during the design and production phases, you will help manage cost implications and ensure that any deviations from initial cost estimates are reported and addressed.
In terms of procurement and site management, you will ensure that purchasing decisions are made cost-effectively, avoiding unnecessary expenditures. You will also monitor and improve bulk purchasing strategies for site materials to drive efficiency and cost control.
On an ongoing basis, you will lead monthly commercial reviews, providing forecasts on cash flow and financial performance. You will manage net reviews for each project, monitor spending patterns, and ensure that payment processes and contract completions are carried out on time and in accordance with agreements.
Your Profile
To succeed in this role, you should have experience in a commercial role within the construction, engineering, or related industries, with strong skills in cost estimation, tender management, and contract administration. You should also have a solid understanding of UK construction regulations and be accustomed to working internationally to ensure coordinated pricing and procurement standards.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic and supportive work environment.
