We are committed to growth and are seeking a Senior Marine Underwriter to join our dedicated team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone eager to contribute to the ongoing success and expansion of our Marine division.
About the job:
This position is vital to our growth strategy within Marine. You will be part of the UK regional underwriting team, comprising thirteen professionals. The team collaborates closely with our London retail and wholesale teams, working from the Aviva London office and Lloyds of London.
The primary focus will be on writing business primarily domiciled in the UK, with the capacity to operate globally. Experience in underwriting cargo and freight liability is essential. You will have opportunities to enhance your technical skills within a supportive team environment.
You will be responsible for:
* Ensuring all business written and renewed aligns with strategic plans.
* Achieving volume, quality, and profitability targets to support business growth.
* Building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients.
* Managing risk performance and development, including monitoring metrics such as GWP, NWP, Loss Ratio, Expense Ratio, and Combined Ratio.
* Making case-by-case judgments to ensure compliance with strategy and governance standards.
Skills and experience required:
* Proven experience in underwriting cargo and freight liability.
* Ability to manage a portfolio and understand key performance metrics.
* Strong relationship-building skills with brokers and clients.
* Results-driven with effective planning and prioritization skills.
