Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced medical secretary to join our team as a Cardiology Medical Support Secretary within the Heart Centre.
You will work alongside the existing administrative team to provide comprehensive and efficient secretarial support.
You will need to be a highly motivated and flexible team player with excellent organisational and communication skills. The ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise your own workload is essential. We are looking for a secretary with high standards and an eye for detail. You must have the ability to multi-task and work in a busy, ever changing environment.
This position is 18.75 hours.
Medical Secretarial experience would be desirable, be able to work on your own initiative with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Possession of RSA stage III typing / word processing (or equivalent), audio transcription, GCSE English (Grade C or above) or equivalent is essential. Possession of an AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent would be a distinct advantage
An understanding of the EPR computer system is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job
A requirement to exchange verbal and written information with patients, staff and carers, requiring tact and diplomacy. The post holder will be expected to deal with queries from anxious patients and carers.
Responsibility for handing telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality using personal judgement to assess each situation and to deal with accordingly.
To deliver a high standard of typing and ensure actions details are dealt with accordingly.
To enter data into and extract data from Careflow as required.
Management of RTT and pathways.
Covering the Senior Medical Secretaries during leave.
