Who are we?
Here within the @one Alliance we are a totally collaborative organisation made up of our eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO) and our extended supply chain, delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP 8, this will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we’ve ever delivered before. We are driving change, empowering us to set global benchmarks and build a better environment, with the opportunity to offer enhanced growth and development to our workforce. We’re looking to build on our existing teams with an environment for career progression.
With a variety of challenging and complex projects, it is essential we implement the most innovative and pro-active commercial practices possible, providing an industry-leading end-to-end Commercial facility across the @one alliance. We are looking for an Analyst to join our Cost Capture Team.
What will you be doing as our new Cost Capture Specialist?
We’re looking for someone to support both our infrastructure and non-infrastructure business streams.
As an experienced Cost Capture Specialist, you’ll be largely self-governing and self-motivating to provide for all Cost Capture deliverables at Delivery Milestone. You’ll have awareness of commercial, programme and costing processes as well as suggesting change to systems. As a key member of all the delivery teams, you’ll regularly communicate with those teams and Anglian Water’s Cost Intelligence team.
You’ll understand the importance of the cost capture function, which involves the determination of all assets installed on a project and assessing the cost of those assets. It is not only a requirement of OFWAT (governing body of the water industry), but also provides the business with historic data from which future commercial assessments can be made.
If you’re new to the discipline, then we’ll provide a structured training programme which will support your development as a Cost Capture Specialist.
Key responsibilities:
1. Understand the project deliverables by interrogating the BIM model, drawings, and supplier quotations by liaising with the relevant project team.
2. List all assets installed, take off quantities and enter the data into the Asset+ database under the appropriate WBS (plant group) code.
3. Using the quotations, procurement information, standard product prices and historic data, assess asset costs and enter results in Asset+.
4. Use Commercial reports, SAP downloads and estimate data to assess Prelim and Overhead costs.
5. Ensure that proper records are kept and maintained so financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
6. Liaise with Project Coordinators to prioritise the work schedule.
7. Using historic data provide feedback, when necessary, to assist in future project costing.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours…
If you’re looking to launch a successful career in Cost Capture, it would be fantastic if you hold an Engineering or QS degree or have previous relevant experience. However, more important than your educational and experience background is your enthusiasm to learn and add value to our operations.
You should be numerate with good analytical skills and be comfortable working in Microsoft Office (especially Excel). You should enjoy working in a team environment and you’ll be open to and able to communicate with a wide range of audiences. You should be comfortable working to deadlines and have good organisational skills.
