The North 8 Pathology Network is entering an exciting phase, considering next steps in its development that take advantage of the increasing maturity of network relationships and functions and exploring the transformation opportunities available to the collaborative. This is a unique opportunity for an enterprising and highly motivated Network Director with significant pathology leadership experience to join the Network Senior Leadership Team. The N8 Network Programme Director is integral to the delivery of the N8 Pathology Network, playing a pivotal role in developing the plan to deliver a high-profile, complex programme of work to establish the N8 Network and ensuring the overall integrity and coherence of the programme of work. The role is also crucial for creating and maintaining focus, enthusiasm and momentum, working with all members of Trust and Pathology teams and wider stakeholders including ICBs. The postholder will be responsible for identifying risks and issues, operating as a skilled negotiator and 'unblocker' to drive progress towards delivery, whilst responsible for managing the production of a network business case together with other key stakeholders and providing direction and coordination, and ensuring that documentation complies with NHSE and requirements.
Main duties of the job
This is a senior leadership role as part of the N8 Pathology Network Senior Leadership Team. The main duties of the role include:
1. Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders on a range of business sensitive issues to a wide range of audiences including executive directors.
2. Leading on the programme of work which will be monitored against the 7 domains in the maturity matrix.
3. Engaging with and influencing a range of system partners and service users across the pathology Network footprint to ensure that programmes of work deliver the desired outcomes for the population.
4. Leading the N8 Maturity Programme, managing complex programme interdependencies.
5. Encouraging strong and open working relationships between Network partner organisations.
6. Developing strong and effective relationships with clinical and operational leads across the Network providers and regional teams.
7. Managing potentially antagonistic situations with staff and stakeholders within an operational setting working to successful outcomes.
8. Dealing with complex and conflicting subject matter problems or in day-to-day workload in workshops, meetings, one-on-one communications and other events, comprising various parts of the business.
9. Conveying networking concepts clearly and through a variety of communication routes to nurture key relationships with senior and high-profile individuals.

Qualifications
* HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist or HCPC registered Clinical Scientist.
* Evidence of recent commitment to continuing professional development.
* Educated to Masters, degree level or equivalent work-based experience.
Knowledge
* Extensive knowledge of pathology services and the challenges currently facing these services.
* Excellent understanding of current NHS strategy and policy framework and the impact on pathology services.
* Knowledge and understanding of the challenges associated with managing large scale transformational change across a Network of multiple organisations.
* Evidence of significant achievement in operational and strategic leadership and management of pathology services.
* Experience of managing organisations or components of organisations with accountability for the planning and delivery of an annual plan or work programme.
* Experience of managing transformational change spanning a range of professional and organisational boundaries.
* Experience of working at Trust Board level with executive colleagues.
* Proven interpersonal skills to build relationships with scientist, clinical and management colleagues at all levels across a range of organisations and the ability to develop strong working relationships with senior stakeholders.
* Highly developed analytical and interpretation skills enabling judgements to be made on a range of frequently highly complex service and professional issues.
