Job Summary:
• The Senior Legal Assistant will provide high-level administrative and legal support to the Local Authority’s legal team.
• The successful candidate will work closely with solicitors and other legal professionals, providing vital support across a range of legal functions, including but not limited to, drafting legal documents, conducting research, and managing case files.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
1. Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support ongoing cases and provide accurate summaries of findings.
2. Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare and draft legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and correspondence, under the guidance of senior legal staff.
3. File Management: Maintain and organize legal case files, ensuring they are up to date, compliant with legal standards, and easily accessible.
4. Client Communication: Liaise with clients and stakeholders, responding to legal queries and providing updates on case progress.
5. Support Legal Team: Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating document deliveries.
6. Compliance: Ensure all legal procedures comply with local regulations, policies, and protocols.
7. Court Support: Assist solicitors in preparing for hearings and trials, including document preparation and trial bundles.
8. Ad hoc tasks as required to support the legal team during the contract period.
Skills/Experience:
1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role, preferably within a local authority or public sector setting.
2. Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal procedures, contract law, and the role of local authorities in legal matters.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
5. Ability to work independently and within a team.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
7. Familiarity with legal case management software is desirable.
