Job overview
Working as a A&E orderly you will be escorting patients to other areas of the hospital for investigations and admissions. You will support with the cleanliness of the department ensuring our audit results are maintained above 95%.
You will be working in the clinical area with the clinical team assisting the nursing staff in preparing areas for patients.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for undertaking the full range of cleaning duties, as per schedule, in a timely manner, ensuring working practices comply with all current policies and procedures relating to Control of Infection, COSHH, and Health and Safety in the vicinity of the department.
To undertake scheduled and ad hoc duties relating to environmental cleanliness and/or appearance of the area, such as toilets, curtain changing, patient bed cleaning.

Qualifications
* Secondary Education
* NVQ Level 1 Cleaning Buildings and Interiors
* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
* Understanding of Health and Safety issues.
* Must have experience in a domestic environment
* Be able to demonstrate previous experience of Housekeeping/portering within the NHS
* Knowledge of/training in Moving/Handling techniques
* Understanding of/training in COSHH
Evidence of Particular: - Knowledge - Skills - Aptitudes
* Be able to demonstrate ability to prioritise tasks
* Be able to demonstrate use of initiative in problem solving
* Be able to demonstrate a high standard of interpersonal skills
* Be able to demonstrate a positive approach to team working and/or lone working.
* Be able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and comprehension of written instructions sufficient to follow instructions on cleaning chemical containers

* Be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to changes in workload/duties/priorities
* Be able to react sensitively to meet a wide range of differing needs
