Macmillan Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist/Trainee

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lymphoma Specialist Nurse within the Haematology Nursing Team to provide Nursing Care to patients undergoing various Haematology treatments and Supportive Care who have a Lymphoma diagnosis.
NHS Tayside covers a population of over 450,000 including North East Fife. Our Lymphoma service is split across Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and Perth Royal Infirmary with all inpatient care being provided at Ninewells.
The main purpose of the role is to act as Macmillan Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), providing expert treatment and care, coordination and support for patients with Lymphoma at an advanced practice level. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to advancing the body of knowledge through education, research and audit as well as developing practice in others with regard to this patient group. You will need excellent interpersonal skills, senior nursing experience, knowledge of Lymphoma and the ability to work sensitively and collaboratively with diverse teams.
The post offers an excellent opportunity to engage in planning, delivery and evaluation of an enhanced nurse led Lymphoma Service. The post holder will be an integral member of the Haematology team.
Previous experience in Haematology/Oncology would be essential. Evidence of a high level of clinical expertise and continuing professional development is also essential.
The role will involve effective teamwork and communication with a wide spectrum of multidisciplinary teams. The post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical expertise when identifying and caring for the specific needs of Lymphoma patients and their families.
It is essential that you are a UK NMC Registered Level 1 Adult Nurse Educated at degree level with extensive post registration experience in Adult Haematology/Oncology Care. Educated in Advanced Practice or willingness to work towards this is essential; you should be able to evidence your continuing professional development along with excellent clinical knowledge, leadership and communication skills. You must be willing to undertake further education specific to this role.
Candidates who do not meet the Clinical Nurse Practitioner criteria are welcome to apply for the trainee role and will be fully supported to undertake the required education and supervised practice to develop the competence to work as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner. Annex 21 Para 2 (i) of the Agenda for change terms and conditions will apply until successful completion of the Clinical Nurse Specialist training programme.

Currently undergoing a large-scale riverside re-development, this vibrant university city has a well-established art scene, boasting the internationally renowned Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre and the recently opened Victoria & Albert Design Museum. There are excellent transport links both north and south, as well as easy access to the rugged north east coastline of Fife and Angus, and the mountains of Highland Scotland.
You will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of this service. You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register.
