SEMH Teaching Assistant
Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 3:20pm | Full-time, Long-term Position
We are currently recruiting a strong, dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant for a thriving secondary school in Blackburn. This is a full-time, long-term role working with Key Stage 4 students, supporting them in their academic journey and personal development.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be working with students who may display challenging behaviour and have complex emotional needs. Your role will involve providing tailored support in the classroom, promoting positive behaviour, and creating a calm, focused environment where every student can thrive. Strong behaviour management skills and a proactive, empathetic approach are essential in this rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting Key Stage 4 students with SEMH needs, ensuring their academic and personal progress
* Implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalating situations as necessary
* Working closely with the classroom teacher to provide personalised support
* Assisting with classroom activities and encouraging student engagement
* Supporting students with social skills, emotional regulation, and managing their mental health
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with students who have SEMH needs or in a similar educational setting
* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to manage challenging situations calmly
* A compassionate, resilient, and patient approach to working with young people
* A commitment to helping students reach their full potential in both their academic and personal development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
