About the role: As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a key role in assisting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them develop coping strategies and build resilience. You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to ensure each student receives the support they need to thrive. Mental Health Support Worker Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and group support to students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Assist in developing and implementing personalised support plans for students. Support students in building self-confidence, resilience, and positive relationships. Monitor and track students’ emotional and behavioural progress, maintaining accurate records. Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to deliver comprehensive support. Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. Encourage students to engage positively in their learning and personal development. Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being. Support students with transition periods and challenges they may face. Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, staff, and families. Requirements for Mental Health Support Worker role: Previous experience working with children or young people with mental health challenges or emotional difficulties. A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field. Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Health and Social Care, or equivalent is beneficial but not mandatory. Understanding of mental health support strategies and interventions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable individuals.
