We are seeking a passionate and creative Film Studies Teacher to join a team at a prestigious school in Suffolk. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of film theory, history, and production techniques, inspiring students to explore the world of cinema through critical analysis and practical filmmaking. This position is for September 2025.
Duties as a Film Studies Teacher:
* Plan and deliver engaging Film Studies lessons at [GCSE/A-Level/BTEC] level.
* Teach students about film theory, genre, narrative, cinematography, and industry contexts.
* Foster students' ability to critically analyse films from diverse cultures and time periods.
* Support students in practical filmmaking projects, including scriptwriting, editing, and production.
* Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback.
* Encourage creative thinking and independent research.
* Contribute to extracurricular activities such as film clubs, screenings, and media projects.
Ideal Film Studies Teacher:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (for school-based roles).
* A degree in Film Studies, Media Studies, or a related subject.
* Experience teaching Film Studies at [Secondary/Post-16] level.
* Strong knowledge of film theory, history, and production techniques.
* Ability to inspire and engage students with a love for film and media.
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills as a Film Studies Teacher.
* A DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
