Job summary
Anopportunity has arisen for a doctor to undertake minor surgical procedures inprimary care. We are a referral centre for minor surgery in the locality andhave an established and well-regarded primary care minor surgery centre howeverdue to our success we are now looking to take on more clinicians to help withthe workload.
Minorsurgery is done under local anaesthetic and practitioner will be workingindependently with the assistance of a member of the nursing team.
Proceduresare minor and any candidate will be expected to be work efficiently andcomplete procedures within the 30-minute allocated slots.
The postholder will be expected to provide a patient centred service, respecting theprivacy, dignity and choice of individual patients.
The workwill be mostly during social working hours during the week with no on calls butthere may be the opportunity to work on Saturdays coming up.
Main duties of the job
The rolewill involve undertaking minor surgical (principally dermatological procedures)on a primary care population. Tasks include but are not limited to:
Triaging minor surgical procedures
Consenting patients and pre-operativeassessment
Skin surgery on lumps, bumps and low risk BCCskin cancers
Follow up and wound care as necessary
Audit of care and procedures
Working closely with our practice nursingteam, other doctors at the practice including community dermatology team and arange or practice administrative staff.
Making appropriate referrals to secondary careif necessary.
No on call/duty sessions or seeing patientswith undifferentiated problems.

Essential
1. Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
2. Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
3. Previous experience working in surgery in the UK
4. Evidence of Good communication skills both oral and written
Qualifications
Essential
5. Medical degree
6. Postgraduate qualification or appropriate specialist qualification in surgery
7. Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
8. Basic Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
9. Relevant English language qualification
