Main Purpose of Role
The Refractory/Kiln Operative is a permanent position. The position involves loading and unloading the kiln, monitoring its performance, utilising brick-making machinery, quality checking and packing to ensure high quality goods are created within the manufacturing site. The role also comprises loading and unloading lorries for shipment to customers.
Key Accountabilities
* Train to the required level to achieve suitable abilities to carry out varied process manufacturing operations within production.
* To work with and support the existing teams to achieve daily targets.
* Maintain levels of performance as directed by line management.
* Keep records of daily performance.
* Work in a safety conscious manner being mindful of environmental impacts of the job.
* Be available to cover either shift work or overtime as required.
* Maintain standards of both time and attendance.
* Ensure all departmental tasks and functions are undertaken in a safe manner in accordance with the company Health and Safety policies, procedures and management system.
* Maintain good housekeeping throughout the department in line with 5’S best practice.
Judgement and Decisions
* Maintaining quality standards by selecting and rejecting product not matching guided standards.
* Identifying mechanical issues and reporting to management.
* Identify and report safety or environmental issues.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
* Experience of manual handling work.
* Experience of working with small remote teams.
* Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
* Flexible and adaptable to change and prepared to transfer from one department to another.
* Overhead crane license.
* Health and safety certification.
* Experience of brickyard work.
* Experience of 7 day, 3 shift work.
Travel
You will be required to commute to work to start on the following shift patterns:
Morning Afternoon Nights
Monday - Thursday 06:00 - 14:00 14:00 - 19:00 19:00 - 06:00
Friday 06:00 - 12:00 12:00 - 18:30 18:30 - 05:30
Saturday 05:30 - 11:30 11:30 - 18:30 18:30 - 05:30
Sunday 05:30 - 11:30 11:30 - 18:30 18:30 - 06:00
