A full-time permanent position as Senior Validation Officer has become available within the Corporate Service Support Team assisting Development Management Services. The Validation Team delivers a key function in the validation of planning applications submitted to the Council.
About the Role:
The Senior Validation Officer will provide leadership, direction, training, and mentoring to ensure optimum service delivery and performance. They oversee the allocation and distribution of work; monitor and review the requirements of the Validation Team; identify training needs and provide guidance in relation to effective and efficient validation methods associated with the validation process and the wider Development Management Service.
About the Candidate:
The opportunity would suit someone with a methodical approach to work, exceptional attention to detail, excellent IT skills, and at least 3 years of experience in Development Management procedures or a planning environment. Knowledge of ICT systems such as Tascomi and QGIS would be a distinct advantage.
Due to the level of contact with members of the public, both on the telephone and via email and paper correspondence, the need to meet the desired Welsh language levels is essential.

We play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the decision-making process of the Council, including support and advice to Councillors; PA, administrative and project management support to all service areas; facilitating elections; the communications team; translation and the Welsh Language policy officer. Our key functions include:
* Corporate Service Support: PA and Administrative support; Business support including project management and minute taking.
* Democratic Services: Councillors; Council, Cabinet, Overview and Scrutiny Committees and Regulatory Committees.
* Electoral Services: General and local elections; Management of the electoral register.
* Communications Team: Manage communication activities corporately; support services in campaigns and projects; deal with the press and media; develop and issue press releases; manage social media pages.
* Translation: Documents and simultaneous translation.
* Welsh Language Standards: Operational; Policy making; Promotion; Monitoring; Service delivery.
