The ideal candidate will be based in close proximity to either of our offices in Letchworth (Hertfordshire) or Dorney (Berkshire), or within the Home Counties and Thames Valley regions.
We are looking to appoint a Senior Arboricultural Consultant to join our ever-expanding Arboricultural Consultancy team. You will get to work with a close-knit group of like-minded people who are passionate about trees, and within a wider consultancy that includes Ecologists, Foresters and Nature Recovery Consultants.
We are looking for an experienced, qualified and ambitious Senior Consultant who can help us to offer unparalleled Arboricultural expertise and services to our existing clients within the commercial, public, private, utility, and charity sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing an existing portfolio of Tree Safety Inspection contracts for various clients across the utility, private and public sectors;
* Leading on the production of BS 5837 Arboricultural Surveys and Reports for planning purposes, including interaction with clients, consultants, third party stakeholders, and local authorities;
* Overseeing the use of a variety of different Tree Management Software for Tree Safety Inspection contracts, and ensuring consistency in content and quality;
* Conducting detailed surveys and assessments of trees (including use of PiCUS and Resistograph equipment);
* Leading and managing the production of clear, concise and professional reports and plans;
* Line management and coordination of other Arboricultural Consultants;
* Working with our Arboricultural teams to guide the delivery of works on the ground, where necessary;
* Completing applications for Tree Preservation Order and Conservation Area consent;
* Providing expert evidence and support in legal proceedings related to tree-related disputes, such as boundary disputes, tree damage claims, or planning appeals. This may involve preparing reports and conducting assessments;
* Production of quotations, contribution to tenders, and raising invoices on works completion.
Core Skills and Requirements:
* A degree or minimum Level 4 Arboricultural qualification;
* At least 5 years’ experience working in a consulting capacity;
* Member of the Arboricultural Association;
* Experience line managing staff and coordinating sub-consultants;
* Experience undertaking BS 5837 surveys and detailed tree condition reports;
* Experience surveying and specifying management for Veteran Trees;
* Excellent verbal communication skills and able to deal directly with clients;
* Confident project management skills and the ability to manage project finances;
* Strong IT skills and the ability to use tree management software and other specialist software such as AutoCAD;
* Knowledge and understanding about ecology and protected species;
* Full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
