G4S Employment Support Services (ESS) are looking to recruit within our dedicated team across the North West of England to deliver the RESTART employability programme on behalf of DWP.
The RESTART contract will support individuals into long term employment across the North West through our network of Suppliers and Stakeholders and we are looking to recruit a team of individuals, in a variety of roles, to ensure the success of that delivery.
About the Role
As the Data Governance and Strategic Data Lead, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an enterprise level strategic Data Governance function.
You will also be accountable for creating and overseeing effective high-level approaches that
solve all aspects of data challenges, allowing the business to meet its contractual, legal and growth objectives.
You will lead the development and continuous implementation of a data centric culture within the organisation, overseeing state of the art, agile, risk averse architectures, models and Data Governance approaches that support the company’s Data Strategy, de-risking the now and enhancing future readiness. *Note this is not an infosec role but will require infosec awareness.
Key Responsibilities
Roadmap and Strategy: Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, prioritising the development of information-based capabilities with state-of-the-art architecture, technologies and methodologies.
Policy and Standards: Create, enforce and manage business data standards and policies, including business controls to mitigate data risk and overseeing business data compliance processes.
Collaboration: Develop strong partnerships and working relationships within the organisation, including wider leadership, shared services (IT), contract delivery, and information security teams.
Innovation: Lead data innovation initiatives and maintain a fit-for-purpose technology approach with a technical-debt-averse risk appetite. Drive technical excellence within the business unit and team for continuous improvement and future contract opportunities while balancing BAU agility.
Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Data Governance practices into data systems and processes.
Organisational Change: Lead organisational Change Management to embed a data-centric culture and discipline, enforcing a risk-based approach to drive quality and control enhancements.
Roles and Responsibilities: Define roles and responsibilities related to Data Governance, ensuring clear accountability for data stewardship activities.
Data Management: Oversee the maintenance of data models, data catalogues, and metadata management to facilitate data quality, consistency and usability.
Team Management: Manage a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst/Engineer and their team, ensuring they meet their goals and support wider business objectives. Facilitate their growth and development to meet future business needs.
Enterprise Initiatives: Participate in enterprise initiatives and acquisition integration efforts to ensure proper identification and prioritisation of data-related activities.
Metrics and KPIs: Monitor and report on Data Governance metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of data management efforts.
Root Cause Analysis: Perform in-depth root cause analysis for repetitive, challenging and significant issues. Incorporate a lessons-learned approach into continuous improvement activities.
Project Documentation: Continuously record all relevant data project information to support delivery, audit and other requirements, including project scoping, development, change control, client/customer engagement, pre-delivery/QA, production and post-production.
Committees and Working Groups: Facilitate data governance committees and working groups to ensure cross-functional alignment and decision-making.
Industry Trends: Stay informed of industry trends and advancements in Data Governance and management technologies.
Reporting and Support: Report to the Head Of Risk on the status of key projects periodically. Assist in identifying areas of need and analysing data to inform strategic planning and improvement processes.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with the Head Of Risk and stakeholders to continuously monitor deliverables, prioritise as needed, and ensure stakeholders are fully informed at all times and effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders, translating technical jargon into actionable business opportunities.
Essential Skills and Criteria:
Experience in a Strategic/Enterprise Data Governance role with practical examples in implementing Data
Management Frameworks.
Relevant technical background and an understanding of Google CloudPlatform (GCP), BigQuery, Looker, Power BI and other reporting and data technologies.
A good understanding of Data Regulations.
Innovative, Strategic and Analytical with excellent Problem-solving skills.
Data centric with a Commercial Impact understanding.
Project Management experience.
Excellent written and visual presentation skills.
Motivated, proactive and responsible for own performance and actions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in a Computer Science or Data Management field.
Working knowledge of Contact Centre Operations
