Analyst – Lithium
Description:
You will join Benchmark’s global Forecasting & Consultancy division, with responsibility for managing specific research areas and forecasts datasets. A significant part of the role will be establishing and maintaining networks with the global lithium industry, undertaking primary and desk-based research to understand supply, demand, and costs across your assigned supply chains.
As part of a team, you will be responsible for producing Benchmark’s Lithium Forecast reports. There will also be opportunities to support research into other markets and consulting assignments. This will require regular communication with other members of the team and coordination with other business units to refine our services, models, and datasets.
It is key that you are a motivated individual with an eagerness to understand the global energy storage and electric vehicle supply chain and are driven to learn more and extend the company knowledge and product base. Our analyst teams work both remotely and, in the office, and while we have regular meetings both virtually and in-person, it is important that you are self-motivated and can manage your time to achieve specific tasks and assignments.
As part of your role, you will be given the opportunity to travel the world, become a recognised global authority on the topics you cover, interact with senior management from leading companies in the supply chain, and regularly speak to and be quoted by various media organisations. Benchmark is a fast-growing organisation so there will also be opportunities for progression and job development.
In your role you will directly report to the Product Director for lithium.
Key responsibilities:
* Building networks within the global batteries and lithium sectors.
* Contributing to Benchmark’s Lithium Forecast.
* Management of assigned forecast datasets.
* Engaging with the Benchmark team to share insight and conduct data analysis.
* Supporting the consulting team with bespoke projects.
* Speak to media and at industry events and forums.
Requirements:
* Analytical mindset, drive for deeper understanding and growth of personal and company knowledge base of industry.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
* Naturally organised and self-motivated individual; able to work remotely.
* Good communication skills: able to interact with the internal team and external clients.
* To work within the start-up culture and mentality of Team Benchmark, which can require continuing to operate and undertake day to day duties while travelling across the world.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in a commodity analyst role. Applicants with practical experience as a geologist or engineer in relevant industries will also be considered.
