PHNP Induction Programme:
1. 3-week face-to-face induction (8.30am-4.30pm, Mon-Fri)
2. 2-week on-the-job training with professional guidance (75 hours in total, round-the-clock shifts)
3. An additional 3 weeks of face-to-face induction.
4. Another 2 weeks of guided placement.
5. 8-week integration period, inclusive of Driver Training.
6. Achieve Module 5 competency while leading as a clinician (under supervision).
While part-time roles are available, please note that full-time commitment is required throughout the induction phase.
Main duties of the job
Following an initial period of transition with our education teams the Clinical Practitioners will support delivery of our frontline service working alongside Paramedics and other pre-hospital clinicians. Key responsibilities of the role include:
Be accountable for the assessment, treatment, diagnosis, supplying and administering of medicines, managing, discharging, and referring patients in a range of urgent, emergency, critical or out of hospital settings.
Provide effective clinical leadership, development and mentorship to operational personnel, including newly qualified paramedics and students to support the delivery of a high-quality patient centered service.
Contribute to the development of an integrated approach to the delivery of unscheduled/out of hours care involving all relevant stakeholders including health and social care organisations.
A shift on an ambulance is like no other workplace. You will operate in a wide range of environments, across both urban and rural areas managing everything from birth to end of life, chronic conditions to critical illness or injury.

Essential criteria
7. Nurse registered with Nursing & Midwifery Council
8. Hold Full UK manual driving licence for 12 months (up to 3 points may be considered dependant on point code)
9. C1 category license to be obtained within 6 months of joining EEAST C1.
10. Mentorship qualification or willing to obtain within the first 12 months
Desirable criteria
11. Pediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
12. IT Literacy Skills.
13. Able to complete clinical and other records to a high standard.
14. Ability to lead a team in and lead in an emergency situation.
15. Experience in dealing with a diverse range of people in a customer/patient environment
16. Substantial Post registration experience in an acute setting, emergency department, acute medical unit, acute assessment unit, critical care; or experience in an alternative setting where autonomous clinical decision making and urgent care planning was required, primary and urgent care, specialist assessment and treatment units or relevant pre-hospital voluntary experience.
17. Experience working with a level of autonomy.
18. Experience of performing invasive procedures such as Intramuscular IM injections and Intravenous IV cannulation
19. Experience in making complex patient care decisions / treatment plans.
Desirable criteria
20. Experience of managing patients’ medication needs using patient group directives (PGDs).
You will be required to hold a full UK manual driving licence with a minimum of 1 years driving experience (maximum of 3 penalty points for minor motoring offences only).
