Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT
The division of Surgery and Cancer would like to invite applicants for a Band 3 post to join the Medical Secretary team within Vascular Surgery at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
There is one position available for 22.5 hours, the post is to support Consultant surgeons.
The successful applicant will need experience in managing the robust systems in place for the administrative engagement of patient pathways. They will need to be able to work flexibly as part of the team - sometimes across sites - to produce clinical correspondence using Medisec digital transcription software from outpatient and inpatient attendances.
Experience in using the PTL (Patient Tracker List) to manage patients' pathways is paramount. A knowledge of medical terminology alongside previous experience of working in a clerical/secretarial role is desirable.
You will be required to display tact and diplomacy and have developed communication skills when dealing with senior staff, patients, colleagues, and the general public.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support named clinicians and support their colleagues to provide efficient support to all members of the clinical teams.
We are a very busy and friendly team and are now looking to engage an experienced Medical Secretary with excellent typing and interpersonal skills to take on this very busy and varied post. The successful applicant will become an integral part of an efficient team providing an excellent secretarial and support service. The post will be based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, but may be required to work at Bassetlaw Hospital if service needs arise.

Person Specification
Organisational Skills
* A methodical and organised approach to work

Qualifications/Training
* ECDL or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
* RSA III or NVQ III or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
* Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
* Business Administration Level II Apprenticeship
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous experience working in a clerical/administrative role
