Job summary An opportunity has arisen for a part time, Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, to join the existing nursing team within the Local Neonatal Unit at Scarborough Hospital. The is a permanent post. The successful candidate will be part of a team of approximately 15 nurses caring for infants born from 32 weeks gestation. The unit consists of 8 special care cots. It is a level 1 unit working alongside the level 2 unit in York, which supports the tertiary neonatal intensive care units in the Yorkshire and Humber region. The successful applicant would be expected to manage and be responsible for the running of the unit in the absence of the unit manager. They should have a knowledge of human resources issues relating to the management of a nursing team and developments in the wider trust. Main duties of the job You must be a qualified nurse, with at least 2 years post registration experience within a neonatal environment, and hold a Neonatal Qualification in Speciality. You should have good written and verbal skills, and an ability to prioritise workload. You should be enthusiastic and understand the skills and knowledge required to develop themselves and team members. It is desirable that you hold a mentorship qualification, have an understanding of management /leadership skills and are willing to further their knowledge within your professional development.
