Senior/ Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services)
Salary up to £75,000
The role:
We are currently recruiting a Senior/ Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Services team in our Billericay office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expertise in M&E by means of economical, safe, and sustainable systems. The team focuses on projects in the Healthcare and Education sectors. They will be expected to work in accordance with the practice's values and objectives, ensuring effective communication and engagement with clients and key stakeholders. They must ensure their own professional competence through continued professional development (CPD) and training, as well as take responsibility for mentoring and coaching of M&E team members as required.
The Responsibility:
1. Work with the Engineering Associate/Director on a regular basis, reporting weekly on progress.
2. Ensure all projects are completed to a high technical standard, on time and on budget.
3. Assist more junior staff with technical queries as appropriate to your knowledge and experience.
4. Carry out fee-earning work, getting involved in the design of schemes where appropriate and particularly where high-level technical expertise is required.
5. Undertake feasibility studies as required.
6. Meet with clients to establish project briefs and budget costs for client consideration.
7. Draw up detailed specifications and drawings against client's briefs.
8. Review tenders received and prepare tender reports and recommendations.
9. Project manage site works from commencement to completion.
10. Agents work against specification requirements and agree with a contractor's final accounts.
11. Carry out inspections of existing installations and submit condition reports.
12. Check and prepare information for fee invoicing each month.
13. Manage the day-to-day workload of individuals reporting directly to you, ensuring clarity of their roles, motivation of the team and wellbeing of individuals.
14. Advise director and partners on resources required, assisting at interview stage.
15. Develop the client base of the practice by being proactive in pursuing marketing opportunities that arise and pursuing marketing initiatives as directed.
