Workforce Co-ordinator – Anaesthetics
To work with the medical management team in managing non-career grade Doctors, Specialists Registrars, and middle grades / junior doctors, following the implementation of a full shift rota for all grades. To co-ordinate leave for all grades of medical staff, ensuring appropriate cover is provided.
Purpose Of Job
The overall purpose of all posts in the Directorate is to contribute to the effective delivery of patient focused health care. Every member of staff is expected to be flexible in the way they work and to undertake any task or activities that they are competent to do. Full training will be provided where necessary.
Main duties of the job
* To assist the Service Manager and Operations Manager with achieving and sustaining key performance targets.
* To line manage members of the administration teams they work with, providing them with strong and clear leadership to ensure they are working effectively, efficiently and productively.
* Work with the management team and lead clinicians to maintain a full shift working pattern in line with service and training needs. Ensuring doctors comply with working time directives and do not exceed total working hours allowed by policy.
* Work with junior doctors to ensure appropriate level of service is provided to theatres and ITU.
* Communicate changes to rota and service to relevant parties.
* Act as a central point of contact for consultants, non-career grade doctors, Specialist Registrars and Junior Doctors, providing advice and guidance regarding Trust policies relating to leave and mandatory training.
* Manage the rota daily ensuring cover is provided in the event of sickness/absence. Re-deploy staff daily as necessary.
* Ensure that the Service Manager and Rota Manager, and other relevant departments are informed of Medical Staff absence and other leave, to ensure clinical commitments are reduced or cancelled as a last resort.
* Manage the allocation of annual and study leave, ensuring cover is available.
* Participate in the induction of all medical staff.
* Agree the use of locum staff in conjunction with Operations Manager/Associate Director. Monitor use of locum medical staff and spend, supporting the Operations Manager/Associate Director to manage the budget for locum spend.
* Ensure appropriate staffing is made available to outpatient clinics ensuring the maximum numbers of patients are seen.
* To work in conjunction with the directorate bookings and administrative teams.
* To provide a comprehensive service to the Consultants and their team, ensuring Trust standards are adhered to in relation to all documentation and data entry concerning patient appointments and treatment.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
* ECDL (European Computer Driving License).
Desirable criteria
* Professional qualification.
* Management Qualification.

* Numerate and Literate.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to prioritise and manage workload efficiently without supervision.
* Working under pressure.
* Ability to build credible relationships with all levels of medical staff and management.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Experience of a busy environment and dealing with the general public.
* Excellent organisation skills.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working in the NHS either in a hospital, private practice or for a GP.
* Experience in a clinical setting.
* Significant experience in complex administration within an acute hospital.
* Knowledge of the 18-week RTT target.
