Would you like to join us to make a difference and change lives?
North Lanarkshire Council has ambition. As Scotland’s fourth largest local authority, we are committed to delivering services that provide best value, create prosperity, achieve social justice, and meet local needs across the area. We know that delivering quality services starts with having the right people working in the right job at the right time, with the right skills, abilities, and attributes to fulfil our commitment to delivering high-quality services.
We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Mental Health Officers to join us and help meet the growing demand for mental health services across North Lanarkshire. You will be working in one of our six localities: Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Motherwell, or Wishaw.
You will have excellent communication skills, an understanding of social welfare and social justice issues, relevant underpinning clinical knowledge, and prior experience of partnership working. We are committed to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed practice. We are therefore seeking Mental Health Officers with strong person-centred assessment and engagement skills who can demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the needs and rights of people with mental health problems. Your role will involve completing statutory mental health reports in addition to a range of other legislative duties; it is therefore essential that you demonstrate a sound knowledge of mental health, capacity, and human rights legislation and mental health issues. You will be able to use your initiative, be flexible, and motivate yourself and others with a positive attitude as a team player.
In return, we can offer you a positive professional working experience with a commitment to continuous professional development, including access to senior practitioner status (subject to eligibility), training, and support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
You must have a CQSW, Diploma in SW, BA (Hons) in Social Work, or equivalent together with a post-qualifying Mental Health Officer award.
You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role and be registered or eligible for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
