What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual who has a passion of Technology. Someone who can play an active role in contributing to the already high standards within this team, contributing and coordinating the use of practical resources and facilities for the Technology Department (Design Technology and Food & Nutrition). The successful candidate will be confident to deliver Food and Nutrition at Key Stage 3, and either Food or Design Technology at Key Stage 4.
The Technology team comprises three members of teaching staff and a technician. Currently, the department has three fully functional workshops, two kitchens, a preparation room and state of the art CAD software. Following the IB Middle Years Programme for Design, the department currently delivers a range of focused curriculum areas including Food & Nutrition, Graphics, Resistant Materials and Textiles at Key Stage 3, students can then progress to GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition (AQA) and/or GCSE Design Technology (AQA) at KS4, and BTEC Engineering is offered to the Sixth Form. High expectations are set within the department for both teachers and students. The successful candidate is committed to developing their teaching, taking on board new initiatives and experimenting with a wide range of teaching styles and strategies. In addition, the Technology department offer a wide range of after school sessions, currently including the Kitchen Garden, Film Prop Production, and GCSE Masterclasses.
Across Technology, students are encouraged to be creative and innovative and think about how to protect our futures. We explore a range of careers, and we encourage our young people to be internationally minded by exploring different cultural influences from around the globe.
