About the Role Working within the Network Engineering team you will be integral to the growth and development of the company’s network, supporting the planning and design, and configuration of the network on a day-to-day basis. In addition, you will provide a 3rd Line escalation function for escalation of technical issues from the 2nd line Network Engineering team. The successful candidate will need to be proactive and enjoy working independently as well as part of a team to maintain the network. Responsibilities: Provide technical escalation to the NOC Manager and the 2ND line support team Conduct network hardware and software upgrades as appropriate Write High Level Designs and Low Level Designs for the various network projects & programmes. Update Network documentation including Visio/Word/Wiki documents. Configuration and Installation of Network hardware and Implement changes to hardware ad protocols across the network Liaise with other departments, working to ensure technical aspects of network expansion are delivered on schedule and to expected standards Provide pre-sales technical support to the Sales team Carry out emergency and scheduled maintenance across the Wessex Internet network Provide ‘out of hours’ cover as a point of escalation for 2nd line network engineers and field based teams. Adherence with Health & Safety legislation and Wessex Internet SHE requirements Update and maintain from an application perspective all network monitoring and management systems. Provide fault analysis and troubleshooting of trouble tickets Work with other 3rd line support and any 3rd party on Root cause analysis/Fault investigation Worth with 3rd party support teams to ensure the effective maintenance of the network Work with the CTO on development of tools and services to enhance the management of the network Role Requirements: Strong knowledge and experience configuring and troubleshooting VLANS and Layer 2 networks Configuring and troubleshooting Routing protocols – OPSF, BGP, MPLS, VPLS Ability to work with Linux and Scripts to automate mundane tasks. Experience with Mikrotik and Juniper routers VoIP experience (SIP) Confidence to work independently on live network environments Previous experience of working in a Service Provider Network Great communication and customer service skills Extensive knowledge of the telecoms industry Takes a proactive approach to problem solving in a team environment Honest and reliable, doing what we say we will do when we say we will do it.
